Casanova di Neri Rosso di Montalcino brings the sun of Tuscany into your glass, with juicy fruit, refined spices, and a silky texture. It is the accessible yet impressive brother of the Brunello di Montalcino – the same soul, but more drinking pleasure.
This wine is made from 100% Sangiovese originating from seven different terroirs around Montalcino, in TuscanyThe manual harvest, careful selection, and 12 months of aging in wood ensure top-level quality. The result is a wine that is immediately seductive but also possesses excellent aging potential. No wonder Casanova di Neri receives worldwide praise from critics.
On the nose, the wine opens with floral aromas, small red fruits, and a hint of tobacco. Subtle hints of sweet spices add depth.
On the palate, the Rosso di Montalcino reveals its finesse: silky tannins, a lively character, and a perfect balance between fruit and spiciness. The taste is dominated by juicy cherries and raspberries, framed by elegant spices. The finish is long, warm, and velvety – a pure invitation to pour another glass.
This Tuscan Rosso shines alongside classic Italian dishes and more. Ideal pairings are:
Serve at 16–17°C for the finest balance and let the wine breathe briefly.
The story began in 1971, when Giovanni Neri recognized the great potential of Montalcino. Since 1991, his son Giacomo has led the estate with the same passion. Today, the estate comprises 500 hectares, of which 63 hectares are vineyards distributed across seven unique terroirs.
This diversity of soils, microclimates, and altitudes forms the basis for wines that combine power and elegance. Casanova di Neri is known for respect for nature, innovation, and uncompromising quality.
The grapes for the Rosso di Montalcino are harvested by hand in October. Strict selection takes place before and after destemming. Fermentation proceeds naturally in temperature-controlled conical tanks. Maceration lasts 18 days, with gentle extraction for maximum aromaticity. This is followed by aging in wood for 12 to 18 months before the wine reaches the market.
The year 2023 brought a relatively mild winter and a cool spring, which slowed growth. May and June brought abundant rain, allowing the vineyards to build up rich water reserves. The summer was warm and dry, but without extreme heat peaks – perfect for a slow and balanced ripening of the Sangiovese.
The harvest began in the third week of September, under ideal conditions. The result is a Rosso di Montalcino that beautifully unites freshness, structure, and fruitiness. A wine that displays the essence of Sangiovese: immediately enjoyable, yet with enough depth to surprise for years to come.
