This Châteauneuf du Pape is of classic grandeur!

The organic red wine Château La Nerthe Châteauneuf du Pape Rouge reflects the soul of the Domaine's wines. This wine has been exported all over the world since the eighteenth century. All plots of Grenache noir, Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Cinsault grapes are planted on the different soil types within the appellation, making the style of this wine the full expression of the complexity of Châteauneuf du Pape. Medium to full-bodied on the palate. Surprising and open on the nose with beautiful ripe dark cherry notes and sweet spices. Ripe wild strawberries and black cherries then explode on the palate to a finish in this hedonistic, intensely fruity blend of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Cinsault. The Château La Nerthe Châteauneuf du Pape Rouge is beautifully primary in its youth with a spicy mineral undertone, but is sufficiently concentrated to improve and become earthier by 2030 and probably even more so (laurel). The finish is balanced with plenty of freshness and supple tannins. Even though it is still young, it is already very approachable and open.

Moreover, the wine can certainly be kept for another 15-20 years in a good, cool cellar. Exceptionally delicious with Provençal classics such as Daube Provençale or roasted leg of lamb made with a herb jus. Also surprisingly well-suited to a classic mint sauce, and surprisingly even to chocolate mousse.

    Historic winery

In his Grand Dictionnaire de Cuisine, Alexandre Dumas listed the great red wines of France in 1870. Among them, Clos de La Nerthe was the only Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The only two wineries praised by A.-P.-A. de Piis, court poet to Louis XVI, were La Nerthe and Clos de Vougeot. Today, owner Rémi Jean Richard harnesses the great potential of La Nerthe with his intuition and impressive know-how. Château La Nerthe switched to organic farming as early as 1998, a deliberate step to build upon its historical reputation.
