A glass of pure Pouilly with a sparkling light straw-yellow color, a vibrant bouquet with the characteristic aromas of black (!) currants, green apple, and citrus fruit. Add to that the fact that, according to Vivino users, this Pouilly Fumé from Domaine Thibault belongs to the top 5% of wines in the world. Then you really have something beautiful in your hands!

    Domaine Thibault Pouilly Fumé

After the rigorously selected grapes, the wine is aged in stainless steel to preserve its fresh structure for a long time. When drunk young, this is an extremely pure Pouilly with a sparkling light straw-yellow color and an effervescent bouquet featuring the characteristic scents of blackcurrants, green apple, and citrus fruit. But also aromas of asparagus, a delightful balance of acidity, something grassy and smoky followed by exemplary length. Served as an aperitif – or at the table with the obvious fish, shellfish, and seafood dishes – this is self-indulgence or proof of sublime hospitality. Consume within five years of the vintage year stated on the bottle.

    Pouilly Fumé

Pouilly Fumé is therefore the easternmost Appellation Controlée of the Loire. In this area, André Dezat purchased a vineyard in 1978 with calcareous stony clay soil and a section of clay-rich flint soil, which he entirely replanted with Sauvignon Blanc. Over the years, he gradually bought additional plots of land. Today, the 38-hectare estate is run by his children and grandchildren. Every year, they manage to attract the attention of connoisseurs of the finer Loire wines.

    Did you know?

The Thibault family's vineyards are characterized by a thick layer of flint, also known as silex, making this a true terroir wine. Silex can be perceived in the wine through its mineral character.
