Exotic fruit, lychee, fresh apple, and a hint of pear burst from the glass in this Au Cler Cotes de Gascogne by Dominique Ferret. An excellent glass of wine at an even better price! A delicious blend of Ugni Blanc (Trebbiano) and Colombard from the French Gascogne. A delightful wine for drinks on a sunny terrace or as an aperitif. Sweet fruit aromas wrapped in a crisp, dry wine. Typically Gascogne!
Effervescent aromas of apple, lychee, sweet pear, and gooseberries. A real crowd-pleaser! A smooth, fresh, and fruity wine with a delicate scent of apple blossom and white grapes. On the palate, it is a bit more acidic; lemon and Granny Smith apple. A touch of grapefruit bitterness is added in the finish. Delicious with fresh, summery dishes, as an aperitif, or as a casual wine. Thanks to the sweet, soft fruit aromas, it is also a good accompaniment to spicier dishes.
Côtes de Gascogne The birthplace of this wine is in the southwest of France. The grapes are typical of white wines from this region. Colombard and Ugni Blanc, the same applies to these Cascogne Vignes Au Cler. In this region, the sun shines brightly and the days are warm. This imparts tropical aromas to the grapes. However, the nights are cool thanks to the fresh mountain breeze, preventing the grapes from ripening too quickly. The grapes are also harvested at night to preserve all the aromas as well as possible. The grapes are gently pressed and fermented in stainless steel tanks for optimal preservation of the aromas.
Vignoble Ferret was once entirely dedicated to producing Armagnac. However, Dominique Ferret, who would become the sixth generation winemaker of Armagnac, decided to change course. He focused instead on making high-quality white wines: Cotes de Gascogne. Over a period of 10 years, he renovated the wine cellars and replaced all 20 hectares of vines. His wine estate has since expanded to as many as 105 hectares of vines. The calcareous clay forms the perfect soil for the vines of the typical Gascogne grapes. The white varieties, Colombard, Ugni Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Gros Manseng and Petit Manseng, form 80% of the vines. The remaining 20% consists of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon which are used to make rosé and red wine.
