For lovers of oak-aged Chardonnay, this Dumanet Chardonnay Réserve is the ideal wine for any occasion. Great value for money and deliciously full-bodied. Aromas of pear, ripe apple, citrus, and, of course, a hint of vanilla. The taste is soft and creamy, with a luscious, long finish reminiscent of a butterscotch candy. It works very well as an aperitif, with fish in lime, or with sushi!
In the glass, the colors of the Chardonnay are bright straw yellow. Ripe fruit aromas of pear and apple fly towards you. A floral note of honeysuckle and acacia and delicious vanilla notes follow. On the palate, the sensation is even greater! Juicy peach, apricot, and plum with creamy butter, toast, and vanilla. The full flavor is perfectly balanced with fresh acidity, making the wine very accessible. The wine comes into its own best when paired with rich flavors that also contain a touch of fresh acidity. Think of lime-marinated white fish or sushi!
The old vineyards of this Chardonnay are located in the Pay d’Oc in the Languedoc, around the cities of Narbonne, Ouveillan, Beziers, and Montpellier. A warm climate with many hours of sunshine allows the grapes to ripen wonderfully. After harvest, a gentle pressing follows, and the must ferments in stainless steel tanks to preserve the fresh and fruity aromas. Subsequently, the wine ages for 12 months in French oak barrels, allowing it to develop that delicious creaminess.
Les Vignerons du Narbonnais is a merger of four cooperative cellars: Ouveillan, Narbonne, Vinassan, and Sallèles d’Aude. Together, they represent 2,500 hectares. The affiliated farmers are not paid per kg of grapes, but receive a fixed rate per hectare, so that they are not inclined to overproduce. The winegrowers of Les Vignerons du Narbonnais are particularly aware of the need to preserve the unique character and history of this region for future generations. The cultivation, selection, harvesting, and processing of the grapes are therefore carried out sustainably, with respect for the soil, nature in and around the vineyards, and social cohesion.
