Not a single-varietal wine, but a blend from Alsace for a change. You don't see that often!

The Gentil is the only Hugel wine not produced from a single grape variety. It revives an old Alsace tradition of blending a wine from a series of noble grapes. The Famille Hugel Gentil is an Alsatian white wine that combines the sweet and spicy side of the Gewürztraminer variety, the body of the Pinot Gris grape, the delicacy of the Riesling, the fruity notes of the Muscatel grape, and the character and structure of the Sylvaner variety. The famous Hugel & Fils winery produces this wine from grapes sourced from plots around Riquewihr and the south of Colmar in Alsace, France, where clay and limestone predominate. Also try the Hugel Riesling!

    Let's taste the Gentil “Hugel”!

The wine is clear, fresh, and aromatic on the nose, terribly fresh and spicy on the palate. It possesses a truly zesty acidity. Light notes of ripe yellow pear on the nose. The palate presents freshness supported by a very light mousse. The lime notes dominate the dry finish of this slender wine. It has good grip and tension and is pleasantly light. A truly stimulating aperitif, but the Famille Hugel Gentil is naturally also quite brilliant with trout (smoked and pan-fried), and of course, top-notch with Dutch asparagus!

    Famille Hugel

Hugel & Fils is a centuries-old Alsatian winery whose origins date back to the 15th century. They still possess oak barrels that are over a century old. Hugel & Fils was elected a member of the PRIMUM FAMILIAE VINI association. This is a select group of only 12 family wineries belonging to the most important wine-producing regions in the world. Hugel Gentil is the perfect introduction to the wines of the Hugel & Fils winery. Consumers can rely on the Hugel style, which represents pure, dry, straightforward yet elegant and food-friendly Alsace classics that reflect both the specific grape varieties and the specific terroirs, although Hugel still does not mention the name of the vineyard on the label.
