That makes sense, of course, because Graffetta actually means 'stuck' in Italian. But naturally, that's not all; it is also incredibly delicious! The Graffetta Grillo is a typical Mediterranean white wine. Straw-yellow in color, the nose reveals delicate and complex notes of dried flowers, yellow apple, hay, and straw. On the palate, it expresses Mediterranean warmth with a very soft start. Clearly, the Graffetta Grillo also has some anise and fennel notes on the palate. All in good contrast with the freshness provided by a pronounced acidity at the finish. A concentrated white.
The Graffetta Grillo is delicious with grilled swordfish in a spicy tomato sauce. Oven-baked sea bass with some fennel greens in its belly. Oddly enough, the wine also pairs excellently with local Pecorino. For the truly daring, there is also the Casu Marzu to try.
Sicily is a region rich in history, tradition and art. Each place expresses a different historical period that established different cultures and traditions, making this island a blend of unique beauty and diversity.Graffetta is located a stone's throw from the town of Ispica, bordering Noto and Modica, the villages with the most authentic Sicilian Baroque, architectures that mark the rebirth of the Val di Noto after the terrible earthquake of 1697
In 2004, the Castagnoli winery from Tuscany decided to intertwine the destiny of this winery with this estate for two reasons: the first concerns a sentimental aspect—love for their original heritage prevailed, along with the beauty and historicity of the places. The second reason is more rational (entrepreneurial): they decided to capitalize on the exceptional quality of Sicilian soil and agricultural products.
The wine culture of this southeastern part of Sicily has eighteenth-century traditions, a period in which the region was essentially a vast fiefdom of noble families who managed the rural areas of the region for long periods.
Collaborations have led to the management of vineyards located at approximately 600 meters above sea level in the Segesta region, an area with a strong vocation for white grape varieties such as Grillo. The Graffetta Grillo is therefore their calling card!
