In 1962, 19 winegrowers from San Marzano di San Giuseppe joined forces and founded “Cantine San Marzano". They faced a tough challenge because the climate in Puglia It is extreme, with difficult conditions. Drought, frost, Sirocco winds, or even intense heat batter the vines here. Despite these extreme conditions, these passionate winemakers ensure that even grapes from the oldest vineyards yield full-bodied and elegant wines.

A fine example of this is this Gran Trio Rosso. A juicy and smooth wine with ripe aromas of cherries and plums and a wonderfully long finish. Especially for this price, you simply must give it a taste. We are sure you will like it. But beware, it is temptingly delicious!

    Terroir and winemaking

The soil of the Gran Trio Rosso vineyard in Puglia is diverse and composed of limestone, clay, and Terra Rossa. There are 4,500 vines planted per hectare. The harvest is carried out entirely by hand in the second half of September. The blend consists of the three major grape varieties of Puglia: Primitivo, Malvasia Nero and Negroamaro. The winemaking involves temperature-controlled skin maceration, followed by fermentation during which sugars are converted into alcohol. The wine then matures for a further 4 months in French oak barriques.

    Taste and food pairing

In the glass, you see dark ruby-red wine. Swirl the wine around in the glass—this is called swirling—so the wine can breathe with the air. Put your nose in the glass and take a deep sniff. You will smell aromas of ripe cherries and plums, chocolate, and spices. The Gran Trio Rosso is full and rich with a juicy, smooth, and long finish. This wine pairs excellently with red meat, grilled meat dishes, and mature cheeses.
