The Lavilla Blanc is a yellow-green wine with fresh aromas of lime, grapefruit, and tropical fruits such as passion fruit and pineapple. A slight hint of white pepper. The taste is rich and juicy with a lively finish. It has recently been given a somewhat bolder bottle with a fresh new label. The Lavilla Blanc always has plenty of flavor but keeps the alcohol content low. And that is pleasant for a white wine that presents itself as so approachable. An extra glass is poured quickly, therefore. Apple freshness. Citrus with flint. Grapefruit peeks around the corner for a moment. A small, sweet bitterness right at the end.
Delicious as an aperitif or with grilled fish and squid, shellfish, and light chicken or pork dishes, Lavila Blanc also pairs well with steamed prawns and Asian-style garoupa.
Comte Tolosan is an IGP title that applies to wines produced in a large area of Southwest France. The IGP catchment area is home to a wide range of AOC designations such as Jurançon, Cahors, and Armagnac. The region is part of the Aquitaine basin, the plains situated between the Pyrenees in the south, the Massif Central in the northeast, and the Atlantic Ocean in the west. To the south lies Spain, and to the east are the vineyards of Languedoc-Roussillon.
The grape varieties permitted in the IGP wines of Comté Tolosan are indicative of the region's location: local varieties such as Petit Manseng, Colombard, Tannat, and Cot (Malbec) are all part of the various AOC appellations, as are the IGP-level wines. This list is also populated by more well-known grape varieties such as Chardonnay, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon.
The Aquitaine Basin was formerly covered by the designation “Vin de Pays du Comté Tolosan”. Since the Vin de Pays category has gradually disappeared from French wine legislation since 2009, it now falls under the Indication Géographique Protégée (IGP) category for French wines.
