Made exclusively from Syrah, this Le Plan-Vermeersch GT-S 2011 offers smoke and fleshiness, with sweet black raspberries. If you give it a bit more character by decanting it briefly, this red wine reveals high density and fullness. This single-varietal French wine presents deliciously expressive notes of blueberries, plums, morello cherries, and mulberries in the glass. These are accompanied by hints of Oriental spices, vanilla, and gingerbread spices. On the palate, the texture of this powerful red wine is delightfully dense. Finally, the finish of this red wine from the Rhône Valley wine region, more specifically from Côtes-du-Rhône (FR), which ages well, delights with a substantial aftertaste. Medium-bodied, rich, and beautifully structured, it will provide much pleasure for the next 4-5 years. Experience this red wine from France, best served at 15–18°C, as an accompaniment to goose breast with a Dutch red cabbage dish. Stuffed cabbage rolls but also Italian style with spaghetti with caper-tomato sauce.
The chassis of the powerful Le Plan Vermeersch GT-S from the Rhône Valley consists of Syrah grapes. Naturally, the GT-S Syrah Rhône Villages is also defined by the climate and the Côtes-du-Rhône (FR) viticulture style. This French wine can literally be described as an Old World wine that is extraordinarily impressive. After being hand-harvested, the grapes arrive quickly at the winery. Here, they are selected and carefully separated. This is followed by fermentation at controlled temperatures. After the completion of fermentation.
Former Auto Racer, now winemaker! It is clear: LePlan's wines definitely have a connection to cars. The checkered flag adorns the label, and the bottles reveal plenty of horsepower. The Vermeersch family is jointly at the wheel of this exceptional estate. While father Dirk acts as an ambassador as founder, entrepreneur, and navigator, his daughter also sits on the board of directors. Her husband Sebastien, who is also a part-time rock musician, is the head of the garage—uh, okay, the Cave in this case. And that garage is quite something, for amidst the 24 hectares of organic vineyard featuring veterans like Carignan, Grenache, Syrah, and Viognier, the cooled stainless steel tanks gleam in the sky like a classic DeLorean. Their secret? Guts and Flemish stubbornness (‘French Wine, Belgian Style’). They were the first to produce the famous GT mono-varietals in the southern Rhône. And if that was against the appellation's regulations, then so be it. Vin de France. Velen zijn hen gevolgd. Echte Kampioenen!
