    Poetic Kerner from Northern Italy!

Kerner, a somewhat lesser-known grape but with a character of its own. Kerner is cultivated as a frost-resistant variety, primarily at higher altitudes in the Val Venosta and Isarco Valley. This cross between Schiava (Vernatsch) and Riesling owes its name to the German poet Julius Kerner. (Who doesn't know him?) The slender, spicy white proves to be poetic in the glass as well. The Novacella Kerner has a distinctly powerful aroma of apple, peach, mango, pineapple, some spiciness, and white pepper. On the palate, a soft start, followed by tighter firmness with renewed spiciness and notes of lemon and orange peel. A clear link to Riesling can be tasted here. Beautiful ripe acidity that briefly makes an appearance at the end. Very pure, juicy, and precise. Mineral. Delicious with ceviche with a mango salsa. Shellfish also pair perfectly with it!

Kloster Neustift or also known as  Abbazia di Novacella

Founded 850 years ago by monks, it is one of the oldest wineries in the world, located in bilingual Alto Adige in Northern Italy. Here, they produce fresh, fruity wines with depth and minerality.

The Augustinian Canons started making wine here in the Isarco (Eisack) valley as early as 850 years ago, making this company one of the oldest wineries in the world. There is another unique feature: the vineyards surrounding the monastery are the northernmost in all of Italy. The altitude (600–900 meters), the fresh climate, and the mineral soil are ideal for the optimal development of aromas for the typical white wines of the Valle Isarco, such as Sylvaner, Müller Thurgau, Riesling, Veltliner, and especially Kerner. Every year, there is at least one wine that receives three glasses in the same guide, and the company also holds a star (10 times 3 glasses in the Gamobero Rosso). All wines are highly suitable as gastronomic accompaniments!

    Tip:

Do you like Riesling ? then you will also love the Novacella Kerner. For sure
