    Intense and aromatically complex Barolo!

This Paolo Scavino “Bricco Ambrogio” Barolo is one of the top wines of the Scavino family. 100% Nebbiolo with an intense and versatile aromatic spectrum. Intense aromas of cherry, blackcurrant, dried strawberries, and rose petals, with a spicy structure of clove, spices, and leather. Classically balanced with a long finish. It is no wonder that this Barolo achieved great scores, such as 94 Parker and 97 Suckling points. Paired with grilled or roasted red meat or strong cheeses, this Nebbiolo will linger in the memory for a long time!

Tasting note Paolo Scavino “Bricco Ambrogio” Barolo

Seductive aromas of luscious fruit burst from the glass. Dried strawberries, ripe cherries, blackcurrants, and plums. Dried flowers and herbs follow in the form of rose petals and cloves. The oak aging imparts a delicious toasted note of hazelnut, cedar, and leather. Fantastic paired with grilled or roasted meat or toasted peppers. This Barolo also shines beautifully with a spicy cheese board. When drunk young, the fruit predominates, but as time passes, the spices and warm wood notes come to the fore. In its early years, we recommend decanting the wine well in advance for the best experience.

    Vinification

In the small village of Roddi in Piedmont lie the Bricco Ambrogio vineyards of Paolo Scavino. Only the Nebbiolo-grapes from this vineyard end up in the Paolo Scavino “Bricco Ambrogio” Barolo. The vineyards are situated at an altitude of approximately 275 meters, facing south. The soil consists of calcareous marl and slate. The harvest is done manually, usually in the second half of October when the autumn mist ‘Nebbia’ falls over the vineyards. After the harvest, the grapes are gently crushed, followed by skin maceration and natural alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation takes place in large vats during the winter. The wine ages for 10 months in small French oak barrels, followed by 12 months in large oak. Subsequently, the wine returns to stainless steel for another 10 months before bottling, after which it ages for a further 10 months in the estate's cellars.
