“Super value” according to wine critic Robert Parker
This wine has been produced since the 1981 vintage, in honor of D. Catarina de Bragança, Princess of Portugal and Queen of England. It was the first Portuguese white wine to be partially fermented in new wooden barrels — a groundbreaking choice at the time.
The wine is made from three grape varieties: Chardonnay, Fernão Pires, and Arinto, each harvested separately.
Next comes the blending.
Catarina is a wonderful aperitif, but due to its rich structure, it is also suitable with fish dishes such as grilled sardines, linguine with tuna, prawns with aioli, seafood, and sushi.
