    Expressive, spicy, and zesty white!

Spicy, herbaceous, and earthy. Not necessarily the words you would expect for a white wine. Yet, this is the perfect description for this Silva Daponte Treixadura Selección. A unique white wine from Ribeiro, Northern Spain. Made from 100% Treixadura This vibrant white wine is particularly expressive with striking spiciness. Citrus, peach, some earthy notes, and a zesty acidity. The ideal companion to a frittata with mushrooms and green herbs!

Tasting note Silva Daponte Treixadura Selección

In the glass, the wine is pale yellow with a green sheen. Fruity aromas burst from the glass: citrus, apple, pear, peach, and pineapple. A tart cherry, green herbs, and a hint of honey also reach the nose. On the palate, the wine is very spicy with an earthy tone. A zesty acidity awakens the taste buds. This wine comes into its own best when paired with tapas, frittata, fish dishes, or grilled vegetables. Surprising!

    Vinification

Ribeiro It is located in the Galicia region in northern Spain. The many hours of sunshine ensure that the grapes ripen beautifully, and the Atlantic Ocean blows sufficient cool air over the vineyards so that the acidity remains at a good level. The harvest here is done manually, and the grapes arrive at the winery in small crates. A strict selection follows, after which the grapes ferment in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. The wine then ages for 3 months on its own yeast cells ('sur-lie'), allowing the beautiful creamy notes to develop. Subsequently, the wine ages for another month in the stainless steel tanks before being bottled.

    Bodegas Chaves

Known from the Castel de Fornos Albariño Bodegas Chaves also produces special wines under the name Silva Daponte. This family business makes wines in the Spanish wine region of Galicia. Galicia is quite unique in Spain because of its bone-dry white wines. Since 1955, they have been making very attractive wines from Albariño. This makes them the oldest winery in the region. Consequently, there is a wealth of knowledge and experience here. They also produce surprising wines from other regions in Galicia. In Monterrei, they make crisp Godello and Mencía, while in Ribeiro, they produce a spicy Treixadura.

Chaves played a very important role in the realization of the D.O. Rías Baixas, which is nowadays internationally regarded as the premier area for high-quality Albariño. Cándido Chaves quickly recognized that Rías Baixas had great potential. In the 1980s, Cándido encouraged seven other winemakers to join him in securing a protected geographical indication for the region. After much work, the region was officially recognized as a D.O. in 1988, with the accompanying rules for the use of Albariño as the primary grape variety. Chaves is the first winery to be officially registered in the D.O. Rías Baixas.
