The harvest began in early September and lasted until mid-October, with a few days of rain, fortunately followed by longer periods of sunshine. Finesse and elegance characterize the red wines, which already indicate great aging potential. A typical harvest for this region! An extreme interplay between sunny days, influenced by the Mediterranean climate, and cool nights, characterized by the cold downdraft from the surrounding mountains, does the rest for the Tramin Blauburgunder / Pinot Nero. Pinot Nero (Noir) is ruby in color with light garnet hues. With a seductive aroma reminiscent of forest fruits, plums, raspberries, and cherries. A delicious juiciness and fruit. It is all velvety smooth on the palate. A fresh acidity framed by fine-grained tannins as well as a light touch of floral scents.
Delicious with charcuterie, but also superb with Beef Wellington. The Tramin Pinot Nero is, moreover, a classic pairing with Taleggio cheese. It also serves, among other things, with a risotto with porcini mushrooms.
German is also spoken in this part of Italy. Alto Adige is also called Sudtirol. That is why this bottle not only bears the Italian name of this grape (Pinot Nero), but also the German name (Blauburgunder). The grapes for this wine are picked by hand and transported in small containers. Maceration is carried out at a controlled temperature (26°C) with daily pumping over and immersion of the cap to increase the level of extraction of the grape skins. The wine ferments and matures for at least 6 months in a combination of French barriques, oak barrels and stainless steel barrels.
Cantina Tramin is the backbone of one of the oldest cooperatives in Alto Adige. They embody the typical characteristics of our region: in short, the power of nature and its palette of sensory delights. They utilize their creative and productive focus on quality, innovation, networking, and collaboration to produce wines that reflect these qualities in the bottle. Tramin was founded in 1898; today, it is one of Italy's leading wineries and is consistently named a top producer by international food and wine guides, for example. The new sales point & tasting room offers a spectacular view of the nearby vineyards and Lake Kaltern.
