Vermentino is one of the well-known white grape varieties of Sardinia. A special Italian island! It is a Blue Zone where a relatively large number of people live to be 100 years or older in good health. That certainly calls for a glass of wine! The Villa Solais Vermentino is fruity, round, simply good, and the taste lingers in the mouth for a long time.
Santadi is a great wine cooperative in Sardinia! This is their basic white wine made from the locally known Vermentino grape. A delicious wine for a good price!
The aroma is expressive. Lots of fruit, and what makes this wine truly special is that it is slightly salty and mineral. Perhaps we are just imagining it, but we thought we detected a hint of the Mediterranean Sea. Close your eyes, smell this wine, and for a moment you will imagine yourself on beautiful Sardinia. The high expectations of the aroma are also met in the taste. Intense, lots of fruit, and wonderfully fresh!
The Villa Solais Vermentino is produced by Santadi, one of the better cooperatives on the island. The wine is a blend of 70% Vermentino grapes and 30% Nuragus.
This wine is the ideal accompaniment to fish and seafood dishes. Our favorite is with octopus. So, sliced pieces with some good olive oil and pepper. A real treat! But it also works perfectly as an aperitif or on the terrace in the sun.
We give this wine an 8.5! A wine with a good price/quality ratio!
