Delicious… Aromas of wild strawberries, black cherries with their pits (making you even smell one of those heat-seed cushions), spices, and thyme on the nose. A full-bodied wine, made from 100% negroamaro, which is soft and well-balanced. A pleasant glass of wine with a delicious sun-drenched fruit experience and a beautiful, soft finish. The San Marzano Il Pumo Negroamaro is truly one of those glasses you gladly pour yourself an extra one of. No harsh edges, everything in its place, and a wonderful sense of coming home.
Also try the Il Pumo Primitivo or the rich blend the Tr3 Pumi!
Previously, this wine was called the I Tratturi! Now continuing under a new name. The San Marzano Il Pumo Negroamaro comes from vineyards 100 meters above sea level and always enjoys a fresh sea breeze. Moreover, the harvest here is always done by hand for better selection of the grapes. The wine is not aged in wood after fermentation. All for that delicious freshness! After the Primitivo, the Negroamaro grape is truly the pride of Puglia and Salento as well. San Marzano knows this and is also able to create stunning wines from it. Regularly on Friday afternoons, we open a bottle of fantastic Italian wine. A favorite of everyone. No need to overthink it! Just a nice glass of wine from Italy.
In 1962, 19 winegrowers from San Marzano joined forces and thus founded “Cantine San MarzanoToday, this cooperative numbers more than 1,200 growers. They utilize modern and technologically advanced facilities without compromising Puglia’s very old wine tradition. San Marzano is located in Puglia, in the heart of the highly acclaimed DOC “Primitivo di Manduria”, between two seas (the Ionian and the Adriatic). The provinces of Taranto and Brindisi offer a landscape where vineyards and olive trees grow side by side on a red soil (Terra rossa). This soil and the Mediterranean terroir play an essential role in the production of high-quality wines. The climate is extreme, with difficult conditions: drought, frost, and Sirocco winds. Nevertheless, these passionate winemakers ensure that even grapes from the oldest vineyards yield full-bodied and elegant wines through good vineyard management.
