You smell aromas of ripe cherries and plums, chocolate, and spices. The Tr3 Pumi Rosso is full and rich with a juicy, smooth, and long finish. The wine pairs excellently with red meat, grilled meat dishes, and mature cheeses. The wine is a blend of the three major grape varieties from the Puglia region: Primitivo, Malvasia Nera and Negroamaro.
Would you also like to taste the grapes separately? Try the Il Pumo Negroamaro and the Il Pumo Primitivo!
San Marzano is a small village in the center of the Primitivo di Manduria DOC region, a strip of land sandwiched between the two seas of Salento: the Ionian and the Adriatic Seas. In 1962, the Primitivo di Manduria DOC appellation did not yet exist, and Primitivo di Manduria was far from being a cult wine for wine lovers. Nevertheless, 19 winemakers came together to pursue a dream and founded Cantine San Marzano in 1962.
The conditions were a challenge because the climate is extreme, with difficult circumstances: drought, frost, and a strong Sirocco wind. Initially, they started by producing bulk wines, which they sold to France to strengthen French wines. 1982 is an important year because Francesco Cavallo was appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors. He is a passionate and visionary figure who was able to make and execute plans for the future of Cantine San Marzano. In 1996, the first bottles of their own wine finally emerged from the cellar, thanks to a modern bottling plant. This acquisition marked the transition from a bulk producer of raw materials to a branded producer, including a direct relationship with the end consumer.
Francesco Cavallo has not been idle. Nowadays is Cantine San Marzano It collaborates with 1,200 passionate winemakers and owns more than 1,500 hectares of vineyards. Old vineyards can produce full-bodied and elegant wines. A fine example of this is the Tr3 Pumi Rosso. A juicy and soft wine with ripe aromas of cherries and plums and a wonderfully long finish. You simply must taste it. But beware of this seductive divine liquid; it is temptingly delicious, and chances are you won't want anything else!
