The Maison les Alexandrins Crozes Hermitage Blanc has a beautiful golden color with fresh green hues, truly special. A soft wine with aromas of citrus, apple and apricot, white flowers, and hazelnuts. The taste is open and hearty, with impressions of the aforementioned aromas and exotic fruit such as pineapple and lychee . The wine has a soft, coating, and round structure. There are no harsh acids here, but rather a freshness derived from its mineral notes. The very light oak aging makes it even softer and more accessible. Suitable with fish, meat, and even exotic dishes. This wine is suitable for many different dishes. You can go in any direction with it. It adapts easily. Not easily found to be too light; the wine can certainly take a punch.
The Maison les Alexandrins Crozes Hermitage Blanc is delicious with Pikeperch with a beurre blanc sauce, Fried prawns with garlic, and Rabbit pâté, but also a partner for more exotic dishes such as Chicken tagine or a light pumpkin curry.
The appellation Crozes Hermitage has a continental climate with relatively dry, warm summers. The grapes come exclusively from vineyards on the slopes, which consist of rocky terraces covered with loess.
The Crozes Hermitage is made from the somewhat lesser-known grape varieties Marsanne (65%) and Roussanne (35%). The Marsanne vines have an average age of 25 years and are situated in various vineyards with soils consisting of granite and loose sandy soils with pebbles. The weathered granite provides finesse and minerality, while the sandy soils contribute length and body. Incidentally, the use of this grape is prohibited within the appellation.
Crozes Hermitage is not as old as its famous neighbor Hermitage, but it is the largest appellation in the Northern Rhône. The vineyards were created at the expense of many fruit orchards. (Which yielded less profit….) The villages of Mercurol and Chanos are famous for their quality.
