The Krug Grande Cuvée has a golden color and refined, lively bubbles. This exceptional champagne is composed of three classic grape varieties: 44% Pinot Noir, 36% Chardonnay en 20% Pinot MeunierKrug Grande Cuvée promises a taste experience that far surpasses ordinary champagnes.
On the palate, Krug Grande Cuvée unfolds like a complex symphony orchestra of flavors. Hints of hazelnuts, nougat, barley sugar, and candied fruit dance across the palate. Almonds, brioche, and honey complete this rich flavor profile. The wine is exceptionally versatile with food. It pairs perfectly with dishes ranging from grilled prawns to truffle dishes. Aged Parmesan, Jabugo ham, and mature Comté are excellent accompaniments. Indian and Moroccan dishes also form surprising combinations. For dessert, Krug Grande Cuvée recommends dishes such as carrot cake, tarte tatin, and cheesecake.
The Krug Grande Cuvée represents a rich tradition dating back to 1843. The winery was founded by Joseph Krug with a vision to create the best champagne every year. This special edition is crafted around the 2016 harvest, a year marked by extreme weather conditions. The Cellarmaster carefully selected wines from ten different years, resulting in 42% of the blend consisting of wines meant for aging. This guarantees a unique depth and fullness of flavors impossible with wines from just one year. The result is a champagne that respects and glorifies the individual characteristics of each vineyard.
Krug Grande Cuvée reaches its highest potential when served at a temperature between 9°C and 12°C. Lower temperatures, after all, limit the expression of its complex aromas and flavors. This champagne is not just a drink, but a true culinary experience that perfectly embodies craftsmanship, tradition, and innovation.
