    Fruit and floral

Bolgheri Tenuta Argentiera is a relatively new name for the area surrounding the village of the same name in Tuscany. Despite this, this Italian wine has built up a great reputation in a short time. The municipality of Bolgheri is located near the coast south of well-known cities such as Pisa and Livorno, and about 100 kilometers southwest of Florence. Bolgheri is an appellation that originated from the idea of creating more internationally styled wines using grape varieties other than those permitted.

Argentiera takes its name from the Italian word ‘argento’, meaning silver. This refers to the many silver mines of the past. The company is owned by the brothers Corrado and Marcello Fratini and the famous Piero Antinori. The Argentiera vineyards are located closest to the sea and are also the highest situated in the region. The conditions here are perfect for the production of high-quality red wines. The Donoratico consists of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, and 5% Cabernet Franc. The wine ages for 12 months in French oak and 6 months in the bottle.

The Bolgheri Tenuta Argentiera Villa Donoratico DOC is deep red in color with a characteristic aroma of ripe fruit and floral notes, mint, and a hint of vanilla and toast. Furthermore, it is full and smooth on the palate. An elegant, fine structure and an attractive complexity. A beautifully generous finish. A Super-Tuscan? We think so.

    A Super Tuscan

It is impossible to recognize a Super Tuscan by the bottle. After all, a bottle never states that a particular wine is considered a Super Tuscan. Only the reputation of the wine, which you must know, determines whether you are dealing with a Super Tuscan. Usually, the price is also an indication: Super Tuscans are rarely cheap!
