This Taurasi Aglianico Beneventano Vesevo is made from the Aglianico grape. Taurasi is the (quality) wine region 50 km east of Naples in the Campania region. The Vesevo winery derives its old name from the volcano Vesuvius. After all, Vesuvius is decisive for viticulture in many respects, if only because of the volcanic soil that gives the wine a lot of tension, minerality, and freshness. It also gives it a nice rough edge. Wines from this region must age for at least 3 years, of which 1 year must be in oak barrels. This wine, in particular, has undergone 16 months of oak aging.
The color of this wine is deep red with purple reflections. On the palate, this wine is complex and intense, with incredibly powerful red fruit and bright notes of spices and vanilla. The tannins are firm and, moreover, very soft. The finish is clean and dry. In terms of robustness, the Taurasi Aglianico Beneventano Vesevo rivals a Barolo from the north.
Enjoy with robust dishes, roasts, red meat, game, and strong sauces.
