You have DOC Prosecco and DOCG Prosecco….

Confusing indeed, but the DOCG is a smaller yet certainly superior class of its own. However, with a DOCG Prosecco, we are talking about the best terroir, the most suitable grape, and the strictest requirements for viticulture and production. The grapes grow in the heart of the Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG, on the slopes of the first hills that eventually form the Dolomites, in the northern part of the province of Treviso. Naturally, this Bepin de Eto Prosecco DOCG Magnum is truly a top-class Prosecco. It truly deserves such a beautiful, large bottle. And so nice and big in this 1.5-liter size. Always enough for everyone!

The Bepin de Eto is straw-yellow in color with a green reflection in the glass and has a fine mousse. Extra-long aging on its yeast during the second fermentation creates a delicate note of freshly baked bread. This is the first to appear on the nose, followed by apple, pear, and peach. Additionally, there is a refined impression of fragrant rose and acacia blossom. The fresh palate is smooth and round, with an extra fresh touch from some limoncello notes. Fine balance, delicate, and ready to drink now. Pour the Bepin de Eto Prosecco DOCG magnum at 6-8 degrees into a beautiful tulip-shaped glass. Always a fantastic aperitif, but it also pairs well with light Italian dishes such as various Anti Pasti.

    Bepin de Eto

Just a few kilometers from Venice, in the heart of the Valdobbiadene Conegliano Prosecco region, on the slopes of the Feletto hills—the first hills towards the Dolomites—the vineyards of Bepin de Eto bathe in sunlight. It was therefore the winery owner, Ettore Ceschin, who named the family business Bepin de Eto in 1965. Today, they produce red, white, and sparkling wines. Thanks to well-maintained vines, exposure, an ideal climate, and location, they have earned DOCG status.

What exactly is DOCG Prosecco? Here is a brief explanation.

Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore is a D.O.C.G. sparkling wine produced exclusively in the hills of the zone of Conegliano Valdobbiadene. It is made from the Glera grape variety. The appellation is composed of 15 municipalities and takes its name from its two capitals: Conegliano, the cultural capital, home to the first Italian school of viticulture where the production method was perfected, and Valdobbiadene, the heart of the production zone, known for producing high-quality grapes.

The maximum yield is 13.5 tonnes per hectare. At the bottom of the quality pyramid lies Prosecco DOC, with grapes sourced from 95 municipalities, and Prosecco DOC, with grapes sourced from 556 municipalities, distributed across 5 provinces in the Veneto region and 4 provinces of Friuli. Consequently, the rules regarding the maximum harvest yield and the maximum number of liters that may be obtained per kilo during pressing are less strict for DOC Prosecco than for Prosecco DOCG.
