From artist to winemaker; artistic craftsmanship at its finest

Although winemaker Bibi Graetz has only been producing this absolute iconic wine for 20 years, the grapes come from vines between 85 and 135 years old! A small production per vine, but of unprecedented quality! It is therefore not without reason that this Bibi Graetz Colore is mentioned in the same league as Ornellaia, Tignanello, Solaia, Sassiscaia, and Masseto. With incredible ratings from international wine experts such as James Suckling (98), Decanter (98), and Robert Parker (96), this is a wine that should not be missing from the cellar. 100% Sangiovese from beautiful Tuscany with a hand-painted label. According to Bibi Graetz herself, this Colore 2020 is the best wine they have ever made! This is a work of art in itself!

Tasting note Bibi Graetz Colore 2020

Cherry red in the glass and very aromatic! Crystal clear, elegant, and harmonious. On the nose, you smell orange blossom, cherries, strawberries, and orange peel. The fresh notes are enveloped by a deeper layer of bay leaf, oregano, black tea, and a smoky edge. With a sip, you start the complex feast in the mouth. Strawberries, fresh mint, cherries, and the smoky bay leaf again. A mineral note and pure acidity bring this Sangiovese into beautiful balance. Full-bodied and powerful, but not over the top. Silky tannins and an endless length. This is the wine to go all out with! Crispy pan-fried pork belly, truffle risotto, sweetbreads, or veal ragout with celeriac.

    Vinification

Bibi Graetz Colore 2020 is a 100% Sangiovese of the oldest vineyards in Tuscany; Lamole, Vincigliata, Olmo, and Siena. The poor soil consists of a mix of sand and stones. Combined with the high altitude of the vineyards, at around 420 meters, this is the perfect recipe for an authentic top wine from Tuscany. The pickers enter the vineyards up to eight times to harvest only the perfectly ripe grapes. The grapes are destemmed and gently pressed. The grapes ferment separately by plot, a process that starts spontaneously with natural yeasts. For two weeks, the crushed grapes remain in full contact with one another, during which the grape pulp is pushed down at least six times a day.

Afterwards, the juice and pulp are left to rest for another week. The wine then ages by plot separately for 20 months in old wooden barriques. Only after this is the blend made. The winemaker selects only the best barrels for the blend.

    Bibi Graetz

The Tuscan winery of Bibi Graetz was founded in 2000 in the town of Fiesole and has since achieved true cult status. As the son of an artistic family, he chose a different craft: winemaking. However, artistic blood still flows through his veins, which is reflected on the wine labels. Bibi Graetz wines are rare and very limited.
