    Eden, what’s in a name ?

Of course, with a bottle of wine, it is the contents that matter, but if the name itself is so telling... And indeed, we are the first to admit it... Once you start sipping a glass of Bodegas Toribio Viña Puebla Eden, you imagine yourself in paradise. Perhaps the grape pickers are named Adam and Eve, after all... The grapes were hand-picked in the cool of the night. They were aged in barrels for 10 months under controlled temperatures. A blend of French and Spanish grapes creates a complex, rich, full-bodied, deep purple-red wine, with aromas of forest fruits, flavors of black fruit compote, coffee, a hint of smokiness, notes of balsamic, something mineral, and delicious round tannins. Bodegas Toribio Viña Puebla Eden has a wonderfully long finish.

A magnificent wine that should not be missing from the table. Because it certainly calls for something delicious to accompany it. Delicious with steak or other red meat or game, for example, the gravy deglazed with a balsamico-reductie.

    Bodegas Toribio

We visited this Bodega and fell head over heels in love with both the wines and the winemaker, Luis. His absolute passion for winemaking and his hospitality are legendary in the region. Extremadura. His creativity applied to winemaking is truly amazing. He breaks all the rules by doing things that no other winemaker will ever attempt. Every wine has that special twist that only Luis knows how to create. For those of us lucky enough to visit Bodegas Toribio, we can say that it is simply one of the most memorable places on the Extremadura wine route. Here is a clear example of a family-run winery in the heart of the Matanegra sub-region, founded in the mid-20th century and dedicated to cultivating vines and making delicious wines ever since.

The wines produced here are carefully nurtured, have their own personality, and are made in small, limited batches. This hard work, under the leadership of Fernando Toribio, the project’s “alma mater,” has been rewarded with various wine awards both domestically and internationally. But having the chance to spend some time as a winemaker alongside Fernando is an experience you won’t soon forget. His passion for wine, charisma, and storytelling are incredible.
