In the sun-drenched south of Italy, in the region Puglia, wordt , San Marzano Edda Bianco is made. This white wine bears the Salento IGP (Indicazione Geografica Protetta) classification, but is not limited by traditional guidelines. The winemakers of Cantine San Marzano have deliberately chosen a unique grape blend: 60% Chardonnay, 15% Moscatello Selvatico, 15% Fiano Minutolo and 10% Passulara.
The result is an elegant and layered wine that beautifully reflects the unique character of the region. Thanks to subtle oak aging and a harmonious flavor profile, this wine is loved by connoisseurs and enthusiasts worldwide. San Marzano Edda Bianco has a full, balanced flavour. The aroma opens with floral notes, ripe peach, and a subtle hint of vanilla thanks to the oak aging. The first sip is creamy and refined, followed by refreshing acidity and a light minerality. The Chardonnay provides a rich, round structure, while Fiano Minutolo and Moscatello Selvatico contribute aromatic freshness. The Passulara adds soft sweet nuances, resulting in an elegant and long finish.
This versatile white wine pairs excellently with various dishes:
Grilled fish dishes such as sea bass or sea bream
Light pastas with creamy sauces
Soft cheeses such as burrata or goat cheese
Poultry such as chicken or turkey with subtle seasoning
Mediterranean dishes with vegetables and olive oil
Cantine San Marzano was founded in 1962 by 19 winegrowers who joined forces to improve the quality of their wines. Today, the cooperative numbers over 1,200 winegrowers, and together they manage more than 1,500 hectares of vineyards. The Salento region, in the far south of Puglia, enjoys a Mediterranean climate with hot summers and a cooling sea breeze. This climate ensures optimal ripening of the grapes and gives the wines their characteristic balance between freshness and depth.
The grapes for San Marzano Edda Bianco are harvested by hand to ensure the highest quality. After the harvest, fermentation takes place in French oak barrels, after which the wine ages for several months on the fine lees. This process contributes to the complexity and structure. Cantine San Marzano combines traditional viticultural techniques with modern innovations, giving the wines an authentic expression of the terroir. In addition, the cooperative is committed to sustainable wine production, with respect for both the environment and the local community.
San Marzano Edda Bianco is therefore not only a wine that impresses not only with its taste, but also with the passion and dedication with which it is made. An excellent choice for lovers of refined, gourmet white wines.
