The white wine Edda Bianco Salento IGP is a fine example of how, as an innovator, you can manage to make a fantastic wine against the rules. Unfortunately, as a winemaker, you do have to settle for a meager IGP (Indicazione Geografica Protecta), because what you do does not fit the system. But let's be honest: if you don't dare to step outside the box, nothing will ever change. Nu ook in Magnum Formaat!
The winemakers, the Cantine San Marzano cooperative, have opted for different grapes and a different production process than is permitted under the traditional classification system in the Salento region. So be sure to check out what experts say about this San Marzano Edda Bianco.

The wine is composed of a blend of four different grape varieties: 60% Chardonnay, 15% Moscatello Selvatico, 15% Fiano minutolo, 10% Passulara.
A powerful and elegant wine with lots of flavor and depth. De wijn heeft houtrijping gehad. That gives it a subtle sweetness of a ripe Chardonnay. In addition, the scent contains flowers, peach and a delicate hint of vanilla. The attack is creamy and delicate with elegant, refreshing and mineral notes. A genuine discovery made with care.
Cantine San Marzano produces modern, elegant wines with an excellent price-quality ratio from authentic local grape varieties, such as Primitivo, Negroamaro and Malvasia Nero. The cooperative has a wide assortment with different quality levels. At Wijnclub Amsterdam, we have a selection of red, white, and rosé wines.
The history of the Cantine San Marzano cooperative begins in 1962, when 19 winegrowers joined forces to improve the quality of their wine. By working together, the winegrowers were able to invest in better machinery. While respecting the region's original wine traditions, the cooperative today works with the most modern and advanced technology.
Today, there are no fewer than 1,200 winegrowers in the Cantine San Marzano cooperative. Together, they own around 1,500 hectares of vineyards, meaning the average area of each individual winegrower is relatively small. Together, they know how to produce beautiful wines!
