Blackberries, cassis, leather, black cherry, pepper, cocoa, and a hint of vanilla. You immediately understand why these wines used to be called ‘vin noir’ (black wine). The Château Coustarelle Cuvée Caroline Cahors is made from 100% Malbec grapes, and they produce incredibly dark wines. On the nose, black fruit comes to the fore, complemented by subtle spicy notes. Careful aging in oak barrels gives the wine a rich complexity. Cahors light in the Sud-Ouest area in south-west France, and is the true home of the Malbec grape.
The taste of the Château Coustarelle Cuvée Caroline Cahors is full and refined. The soft tannins provide an elegant structure and a long, silky finish. This wine is the perfect companion for red meat dishes, such as steak or lamb, but also comes into its own beautifully with duck breast, cheese boards, and even a rich chocolate cake.
The family business Château Coustarelle is located in the heart of the Cahors region in the Southwest, on the right bank, with 30 hectares of vineyards benefiting from the southern slopes. The château is run by Michael, Nadine, and Caroline Cassot. The Cuvée Caroline is a special tribute to Caroline, who, together with her father, decided to create a powerful and rich Cahors. With the combination of 6 and 12 months of aging in oak barrels, this wine possesses depth and refinement.
