When you think of wine, you most likely don't think of Morocco. Yet, this is a beautiful wine country that is certainly worth a try! This Chateau Roslane Premier Cru Rouge comes from the foot of the Atlas Mountains and is strongly reminiscent of a sunny Bordeaux. Made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah, this is a sultry, full-bodied wine with the character of a Bordeaux. A true wine to sniff, with delicious aromas and an elegant yet firm taste with plenty of tension. The perfect partner for beef couscous or a lamb burger, but also for spicy dishes.
In the glass, this wine is deep ruby red in color. An orchestra of aromas greets you: cherries, vanilla, gingerbread, cinnamon, luscious black fruit, sophisticated wood, leather, bay leaf, and a hint of tobacco. You won't be able to stop smelling this wine! The taste is elegant, full-bodied, and round with integrated tannins. Slightly astringent with bitter chocolate in the finish, which gives the wine an interesting tension. Powerful and velvety smooth. The sun-baked fruit in this wine makes it an excellent accompaniment to spicy dishes. It is also a guaranteed winner with a delicious Moroccan couscous or lamb burger.
The Premier Cru vineyards of Chateau Roslane are located in the Coteaux de l'Atlas appellation near the Moroccan city of Meknès. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah The grapes used for this wine come from the oldest vines in the vineyards. The soil consists of calcareous clay with gravel. The vineyards are situated at an altitude of up to 700 meters to capture the most hours of sunshine and benefit from the cooling mountain breeze. This allows the grapes to ripen slowly and develop a beautiful complexity. After the manual harvest, the grapes undergo rigorous selection and ferment at a low, controlled temperature. Subsequently, the wine ages for approximately a year in French oak, depending on the vigor of the grapes. The result is an exceptionally beautiful red wine of great class.
Chateau de Roslane is a special project by the wine company Les Celliers de Meknès. Namely, a Chateau in the tradition of the French, but a notch larger. The chateau boasts 700 hectares of vineyards, beautiful gardens, and a traditional Moroccan appearance. The vineyards of Chateau Roslane enjoy Premier Cru status. This is very special for this Moroccan wine, which thereby gains the international recognition it deserves.
