    Sustainable Viognier from the Languedoc

De Domaine Castelnau Viognier the colour of l’Ile is light yellow with green reflections. The nose develops aromas of vine peach and yellow stone fruit such as apricot. The opening is soft, with aromatic pear and sweet almonds. Essentially a kind of dry frangipane tart. The finish leaves a spicy and salty sensation. This is partly due to its location near the Mediterranean Sea. Low in acidity and with a round and full mouthfeel.

    Domaine de Castelnau

At the gates of the village of Castelnau de Guers, a few kilometers from Pézenas and the Mediterranean Sea, Domaine de Castelnau has very ancient origins. Once owned by the Lords of Guers in the 13th century, it is a precious heritage that has always been lovingly maintained by Béatrice and Christophe Muret, owners of the property since 1997. In this way, the winemaking calling of their ancestors has been perpetuated. Situated between plains and scrubland, the Castelnau vineyard benefits from a great diversity of terroirs and an exceptionally favorable climate for grape ripening, lending finesse and elegance to white and rosé wines, and power and balance to red wines.

The walls of the Domaine, although a hundred years old, house a modern wine cellar, a cathedral of completely renovated concrete vats alongside ultra-modern stainless steel vats. Additionally, the fully ripe grapes are harvested at night to preserve optimal freshness and quality. Here also a very limited use of sulfites and aging on fine lees ultimately gives the wines full freshness, suppleness, and character. The estate holds an HVE certificate! The highest achievable sustainability certification! Well done there! So keep drinking that Domaine Castelnau Viognier l’Ile.
