In recent years, Rueda has become indispensable when it comes to tasty, unpretentious wines. They are suitable for an aperitif and pair well with a wide variety of dishes. A Rueda combines the best of Sauvignon Blanc with a distinct Spanish twist. Duquesa de Valladolid combines the viticulture and winemaking knowledge that winemaker Luisa Freire acquired in Santiago Ruiz, Galicia, to elevate the characteristic hint of aromatic herbs and the zesty finish of the Verdejo grape to a new level.
This Duquesa de Valladolid Rueda Verdejo has a light straw-yellow color with youthful green hues. The bouquet features tropical aromas of pineapple accompanied by white flowers and a hint of hay. The taste displays a fresh, lively acidity, characteristic of the Verdejo variety, and a balanced, lively, fresh, dry finish. Preferably drink young; keep for up to 2 years after the harvest; serve well chilled at around 9 degrees.
This Duquesa de Valladolid Rueda Verdejo is delicious to drink with appetizers, for example with marinated goat cheese or Piri-piri prawns. It is also wonderful with Thai-style fish. At the same time, it pairs very well with a Dutch mussel dish.
Bodegas Lan, Duquesa de Valladolid. Although Bodegas LAN is particularly famous for its powerful red wines from Rioja, the estate also produces this fresh Duquesa de Valladolid Rueda Verdejo as a pleasant counterpart. This wine is made in Rueda. This region is particularly known for its fresh, aromatic white wines. Verdejo is by far the most important grape there, followed by Viura and Sauvignon Blanc. The Duquesa de Valladolid (or the Duchess of Valladolid) is made from 100% Verdejo from fifteen-year-old vines. The grapes are harvested at night and subsequently fermented at a cool temperature to optimally express the fresh and aromatic character of the grape. Furthermore, worthy of a true duchess, various hats from the Victorian era are depicted on the label.
