Packed with flavor, intense and lovely. Would definitely buy again.
This makes you happy. Bursting with flavor and at the same time very sweet on the palate. The barrel aging gives it just that little bit extra. Excellent value for money! Cherry, blackberry, leather, pepper, chocolate, and wood. Heavenly delight!
Portugal is primarily known as the land of Port, although it is also a true wine country. With this Feuerheerd’s Douro Reserva, the best of both is combined in one bottle! The classic Port blend. Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz (Tempranillo) also forms the basis for this wine. A delicious wine bursting with cherries and plums with a spicy note and clear influences from the old wooden Port barrels. It is a wine that you actually drink on a wet, chilly autumn or winter day. But it can also be enjoyed in a chilled glass on a sultry summer evening! A wonderfully unique specimen that you can keep for up to 10 years after harvest!
In the glass, Feuerheerd’s Douro Reserva has a deep Bordeaux color. Aromas of dark fruit such as plums and cherries dance through the glass. You can detect a distinct influence of the Port casks in the form of oak, smoky tobacco, and spicy notes. A touch of sweetness is provided by the sun-ripened fruit, and the long aging in wood brings deliciously soft, ripe tannins. A wine that will pair well with a fine piece of red meat, game, or a well-stocked cheese board!
The grapes used in this wine grow in the warm vineyards of Quinta do Porto in the Portuguese Douro Valley. The sun warms the grapes well here, ensuring the harvest ripens evenly. The wind from the Douro River provides sufficient cooling to develop beautiful complexity. The grapes are carefully harvested by hand. After fermentation, the wine ages for no less than 12 months in old Port oak barrels, which imparts the unique and characteristic aromas to this wine.
The Feuerheerd’s wine estate has a very rich history and a Dutch touch! The estate is owned by the Van Zeller family, one of the most famous families in the Port region. The Van Zeller family was originally Dutch, but has been here since the 17th century,th migrated to Portugal in the 19th century. 14 generations later, the estate is still active and, in addition to the well-known Port, they also produce this amazing Reserva!
