    Sicilian splendor with Tuscan influences.

The Graffetta estate is situated between Noto and Modica. It is owned by the Tenuta Cali wine group. We also know this family from our Rocca di Castanogli Chianti Classico. They produce a top-quality wine in Sicily too! Nero d’Avola reigns supreme here. This Graffetta Nero d’Avothe wine is dark red with an intense color. On the nose, ripe, dark, almost overripe fruit and spices like cinnamon and mocha, as well as leather and earthy notes. On the palate, it is round with delicious fruit and mild tannins, yet the Graffetta Nero d’Avola remains juicy. The wine has a fresh and long finish. Truly a characteristic Sicilian, top-notch showmanship.

Classic with pasta with bolognese or a spicy arrabiata sauce (from the day before, when it is at its best), grilled goat, and medium-aged local cheeses.

    Gaffetta en Tenuta Cali

Ispica, where Graffetta the place where it is located, just like the entire territory of the Noto Valley, is the land of Nero d’Avola, the town after which it is named. In the past, this area smelled of Nero d’Avola grape must during the months of September and October, and the streets were drenched with grapes unloaded from carts. This vine is also commonly known locally as “Calabrese”. It used to be a blended wine and was exported extensively to France for that purpose (!!), but nowadays it rightfully stands on its own.

    Passion

We were born as farmers and winemakers who know the land and the territory. The love for the land and the work in the vineyard has been within us for generations. Experience, dedication over the years, and hard work taught us the art of winemaking.

The Tenute Calì wine group was born from a passion for agriculture, fine drinking, excellent products, and the ambition to continuously improve. In 1981, fascinated by the beauty and history of the place, they purchased one of the oldest and most noble estates in the Chianti Classico area: Rocca di Castagnoli in Gaiole in Chianti.

A few years later, in 2004, they decided to return to where their surname originated. Back to Sicily, to one of the most artistic and suitable wine regions, thanks to the Baroque beauties and the generosity of the land.
