An intense, black color with deep, sweet, ripe aromas of dark forest fruit, light licorice, and woody notes. Full, soft, and ripe on the palate with a long finish. The Sangiovese grapes are dried for several months before pressing, just as is done with Amarone. This results in a more concentrated juice, making the wine incredibly intense and full-bodied. It is fine to enjoy with appetizers but comes into its own better with fine dishes such as stuffed veal breast or aged cheeses.
• Fantini Edizione Cinque Autoctoni: This wine also tops the Vivino user rankings, and wine critic Luca Maroni and Gambero Rosso give it the highest score! Cinque Autoctoni, five authentic grape varieties: Malvasia Nero, Montepulciano, Negroamaro, Primitivo, and Sangiovese. The goal of this blend was to create a wine that would encapsulate Southern Italy, forged with the best vines from the region. And they certainly succeeded! Dark in color, with intense and persistent aromas. Fruity cherries with aromatic spices, cinnamon, cocoa, and a hint of licorice. Firm structure, but wonderfully soft tannins and a fine freshness.
