Oh? Well, tell me… tell me! Okay, okay, listen! First of all, the year 2012 is a vintage year “par excellence”. Everything was right! The harvest began in mid-September under dry and cold conditions, perfect weather for healthy grapes that were attractive Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs yielded. These high-quality grapes revealed an extraordinary aromatic richness that foreshadowed an exceptional vintage. Vintage champagnes were produced at many houses this year. The Laurent-Perrier Vintage 2012 was one of them.
We know the well-known ones: Moet & Chandon, as well as their Dom Perignon, and of course Roederer with their iconic Cristal. Houses that have become known and famous for this. However, this is different at Laurent-Perrier: Here a very large part goes to their regular “non Vintage cuvee”. This entry-level champagne (ehh.. what do you mean snobbery) is Laurent-Perrier's calling card. Vintage champagnes are simply made less often here. However, in a big year like 2012, they could not be left behind. The Laurent-Perrier Vintage 2012 remains somewhat out of the spotlight for the market because it is not primarily focused on. Do you understand him yet? This means here: no empty market yet and no price-raising effect for this wine. And of absolute top quality.
This champagne is also made to be put away for a while, so the pleasure will only increase later. It is certain that this harvest will also end up in Laurent-Perrier's “Grand Siecle”. These are champagnes that only come out once a decade. Laurent-Perrier Vintage 2012 is a rare and excellent wine that expresses the character of the year in the style of Laurent-Perrier. Perswijn rated this vintage as the best Champagne from €30!
The Laurent-Perrier Millésimé 2012 has a delicate nose with characteristics of orange, lemon, and grapefruit, chalky notes accompanied by a delicious aroma of brioche and freshly baked puff pastry. On the palate, citrus is again clearly present on the opening and a wonderful freshness. The finish is characterized by orange oil and toast. The 2008 vintage features high-quality grapes, and the wine has developed beautiful depth after the long aging and the autolysis effect. The Vintage is white-gold in color with a fine sparkle.
This is a wine for the ultimate aperitif with luxury chaud froids and smoked salmon on toast. The wine pairs excellently with light, elegant, and delicate preparations of shellfish, fish, poultry, and veal fillet. It loves a cream sauce!
In 1881, when cellar master Eugène Laurent inherited the Alphonse Pierlot champagne house, he provided it with the essential foundations needed to produce great champagnes, namely the houses and the land to create a fully-fledged estate. He purchased vines in the very best terroirs of Bouzy, Tours-sur-Marne, and Ambonnay, excavated 800 meters of cellars, and established a tasting laboratory.
Thus, Domaine Laurent-Perrier (the estate) became anchored in Tours-sur-Marne. This picturesque village is ideally situated at the crossroads of the three main wine-growing regions of the Marne department: the Montagne de Reims, the Vallée de la Marne, and the Côte des Blancs. It is also part of the list of 17 Champagne villages in the prestigious ‘Grand Cru’ area.
