The Lenotti Massimo Veneto Rosso is perhaps the most important “creation” of Cantine LenottiThis creation was born in 1997 from an idea by winemaker Giancarlo Massimo Lenotti. He successfully attempted to replant a series of very local and almost forgotten grape varieties—Rebo, Pelara, Dindarella, and Oseleta. (Who has ever heard of these grapes?)—and blend them with two well-known vines (Corvina and Sangiovese). The idea originated after the purchase of the La Prà vineyard in Cavaion Veronese in February 1997. Fortunately, the estate was already planted with vines; however, it did contain a small section with the aforementioned indigenous vines that were virtually unknown. What were they to do with them?
In the beginning, people at Lenotti really didn't know what to do with it. During the first harvest in October 1997, Giancarlo Massimo Lenotti decided to vinify only the single grape varieties. He had to learn to understand what results could be achieved. In this way, unknown characteristics were slowly but surely discovered in terms of consistency, aroma, and color. Based on these results, further blending and composing took place to create a flagship of the Lenotti winery.
Together in the blend with well-known grapes, the final result is created: the “Massimo” wine. The name thus takes on a double meaning. On the one hand, it aims to honor its creator, Giancarlo Massimo Lenotti; on the other, it also emphasizes how this wine belongs to the top of our production: the “Massimo”. The maximum is achieved. The Lenotti Massimo Veneto Rosso is a beautiful dry, full-bodied, intense, and rich wine. Intensely brilliant garnet red. With a well-pronounced nose, elegant and intense, fragrant, and slightly ethereal. The wine also evokes the vanilla and spice aromas of the precious wood in which it matured. On the palate, it is complex, harmonious, dry, savory, full, and velvety. Lenotti Massimo Veneto Rosso can be drunk young, but is at its best after about 3 years and can be stored for up to approximately 7 years.
A class wine to accompany hearty dishes: venison goulash, slow-cooked wild boar neck. But also grilled short ribs. Of course, it also pairs well with a selection of aged cheeses.
For years, those from Cantine Lenotti have been our best-selling wines. Every single one of them is a fantastic wine, made primarily from many local grape varieties. This is where the heart of owner Claudio Lenotti lies: producing an absolute top-range of wines with the region in mind. That area is situated mainly around Lake Garda in Northern Italy, in the foothills of the Alps north of the city of Verona.
In the friendly northeast of Italy, on the shores of Lake Garda and close to the town of Bardolino, lies the wine estate of the Lenotti family. The history of Cantine Lenotti dates back to 1906. As early as the beginning of the last century, they had an excellent regional reputation for their local wines. Consequently, the Lenotti Amarone della Valpolicella is produced—along with all other Lenotti wines—with the utmost respect for nature and the working environment. Following major investments and magnificent renovations, the Lenotti family has dedicated itself entirely to the entire process from grape to a splendid finished product for the discerning wine consumer.
The Lenotti family owns a substantial number of vineyards in the following regions. Like all successful wineries that have been active for decades and intend to continue doing so for a long time, they have always focused the production cycle on the high quality of their wines. This also applies to the efficiency of all production processes, with the utmost respect for the environment and always taking into account the ecological sustainability of the processes. Quality, health, safety, and environmental protection. These are undoubtedly the objectives underlying every business decision of the Lenotti family.
