Barolo lovers… pay attention!

Because there is big news: The leading American wine magazine The Wine Spectator has placed the Mauro Molino Barolo on its Top 100 Wines list of 2021. Among the thousands of different wines they produce each year, it simply secured a solid 40th spot! As a connoisseur, you simply cannot pass up these wines! And they can be cellared for at least another 10 years for immense vinous enjoyment.

The Mauro Molino Barolo is a classic wine made from the Nebbiolo grape from Piedmont. With proper storage, the wine can yield a high return on a relatively small investment. The Mauro Molino Barolo is truly an elixir with a compact expression that gains more shape and volume over time. It already shows signs of maturity after a few years: a intense bouquet with hints of ripe fruit, fully ripe cherries, forest mushrooms and rose petals. Very persistent in taste, thanks to its fine and enveloping tannins that give this wine a clear face.

Barolo has a famous name, and is therefore not a wine that you just pours. You have to learn to read the wine, understand it, and certainly not just pour it on the couch while watching football. This Mauro Molino Barolo really needs a hearty meal. Wild boar stew with a nice dollop of polenta, for example. The tannins need to blend beautifully with the proteins from the meat.

The Mauro Molino estate is located in the community/village of La Morra, known for its graceful, floral, and softly textured Baroli. This Mauro Molino Barolo, however, is a blend of fruit from Annunziata and Berri in La Morra and Perno in Monforte d’Alba. This vintage offers the power and grip that propel it forward, and with 45,000 bottles produced, you should easily be able to secure a case and then pull one out every few years to beautifully follow the wine's development.

In the wooded heart of the Barolo region (in Piedmont between Genoa and Turin) lies Azienda Agricola Molino. Here, Mauro Molino has been producing wines of exceptional quality since 1982 on land he inherited from his father and grandfather. He is now assisted by his son Matteo and daughter Martina. Half of the mere 12 hectares on their estate are reserved for the Nebbiolo grape, destined for Barolo. From the remaining grapes, a white Barbera and Dolcetto are produced, and in slightly smaller quantities, Roero Arneis.
