The Mont Gravet Sauvignon Blanc comes from the Côtes de Gascogne, an area on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean north of Bordeaux in France. Due to its cool climate, Gascony is known for its fresh and aromatic white wines. In the past, that was simply too cool, but now with climate change, the grapes here ripen to produce exactly the right amount of delicious wine. Sauvignon Blanc to make. For the wine quality, this disadvantage has become an advantage here.
Previously, Armagnac was primarily produced in this area. The reason for this was that the grapes did not ripen sufficiently for a good wine, and it was distilled immediately.
Nowadays, things are much better due to global warming. The grapes here can ripen slowly and precisely, with sufficient sugars and fine, crisp, fresh aromas. These grapes are now primarily used for the production of white wine with an excellent price-quality ratio.
Sauvignon Blanc also thrives in this cool region. The climate is relatively cool due to the proximity of the Atlantic Ocean. The soil consists of sand, gravel, and clay. Because the grapes are picked at night and transported chilled, Mont Gravet utilizes the acidity present at that time. The bunches are destemmed and macerated for 24 hours in stainless steel tanks before pressing. The wine remains unfiltered, resting on its lees for a few months, which enhances complexity and structure. In the case of Mont Gravet, this results in a deliciously juicy glass suitable for many occasions. The wine has only 11.5% alcohol. There is no heaviness caused by excessive alcohol, but rather perfect balance.
The Mont Gravet Sauvignon Blanc is pleasantly light-bodied and very suitable for a summer party or simply as an aperitif. Additionally, it is a classic pairing for a salad with goat cheese and grilled bell peppers.
