Dark fruit with blackberries and black cherry is present in full glory, along with hints of dark chocolate, black pepper, and licorice in the background. That is exactly what this Domaine Bousquet Malbec Organic has to offer! And yes, organic. This Malbec contains 100% organically grown grapes from the Uco Valley, about 70 km south of Mendoza. The poor sandy soil and somewhat cooler climate are the key to elegance. Unlike other bulk Malbecs from Mendoza. A full-bodied, round, and smooth Malbec with silky tannins and elegant acidity. Serve the wine with grilled meat, strong cheeses, and pasta.
Also try its ‘big brother’: The Reserva van Domaine Bousquet!
Deep dark red, almost black in color. Typical of an Argentinian Malbec. Deep dark red, almost black in color. Typical of an Argentinian. Rich aromas of black fruit and a hint of black pepper rise from the glass. On the palate, the wine is spicy, fruity, and soft. Cassis, blackcurrants, and a touch of chocolate. Full and smooth, but with enough character. Accompanied by warmth and beautiful soft tannins, a hint of pepper, and finally, an extremely pleasant and lingering finish.
The vineyards of this 100% Malbec are located around the village of Tupungato in the Uco Valley, about 70 kilometers south of Mendoza in Argentina. At a very high altitude of up to 1,200 meters, the vines are planted on sandy soil. It is precisely this sand that makes this Malbec so beautiful. It ensures good drainage and retains the sun's heat well. The soil is poor, meaning the grapes have to work harder to ripen, which greatly benefits the quality. It is also a somewhat cooler area than the rest of Mendoza. Viticulture here is entirely organic. After the harvest, the grapes ferment in wooden barrels of French and American oak. Subsequently, the wine ages for a further 4 months in the bottle.
The family Bousquet it originates from the city of Carcassonne in the south of France. Four generations have been involved in viticulture. Their passion is to produce wines of superior quality, and this led them to Argentina to begin a new chapter in the tradition of their winemaking process.
With elevations reaching 5,249 feet, Gualtallary spans the highest extremes of Mendoza's viticultural boundaries. It is the source of some of Mendoza's best wines. At the time, it was still undeveloped terrain: semi-desert areas, nothing planted, no surface water, no electricity, and a single unpaved road for access. The local population considered the area too cold to grow grapes. Bousquet, on the other hand, believed he had found the perfect blend between his French homeland and the New World (sunny, with high natural acidity and a potential for relatively fruity wines).
Today, Domaine Bousquet produces 4 million liters per year and exports 95% of its volume to more than 50 countries. With its own import companies in the US, Europe, and Brazil, Domaine Bousquet currently ranks in the top 20 of Argentine wineries in terms of exports and is the leader in organic wine.
