The Petrolo Torrione is a characteristic blend of all the grapes from all of Petrolo's vineyards in beautiful Tuscany. Not only Sangiovese from the famous Bòggina vineyard, but also Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon from the historic vineyards. This wine reveals the true identity of the terroir and, moreover, marks the beginning of Petrolo's quality revolution. Additionally, since 2016, Petrolo has the Organic certification received! Cherries with dark chocolate, earthy notes, and tangy acidity. Delicious with pasta with spicy sauces.
Ripe nose of cherries, plums, berries, and figs. Spicy cedar, licorice, chocolate, and vanilla with a hint of tobacco. On the palate, the wine is extremely juicy with soft, round tannins and ripe acidity. Powerful in flavor with a long finish. Ideal to serve with red meat, game, or poultry with spicy herbs. Pasta with a spicy sauce is also a great combination!
In the middle of the Italian TuscanyJust south of Florence, you will find the vineyards of Petrolo. Every Petrolo vineyard contributes to this top blend, 80% of which consists of Sangiovese, 15% Merlot en 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes are planted on rich soil of marl, sandstone, and slate. The grapes are hand-picked and rigorously sorted. The wine ferments on its own yeasts in concrete vats, with the juice regularly pumped over the must. After fermentation, the wine is transferred to oak barrels for malolactic fermentation. Subsequently, the wine ages in concrete, large, and small oak barrels for 15 to 18 months.
Petrolo is the ultimate cult winery, with an owner and story that have brought it to legendary status. Petrolo’s vineyards are located in the historic Valdarno di Sopra. Although relatively unknown, even in the wine world, the name Valdarno di Sopra dates back to the time of the Medici family during the Renaissance. Situated in the small area near Chianti in Tuscany, this region has always been known for its viticultural potential. The estate is covered with forests, vineyards, and olive groves, giving the land an enormously rich ecosystem. You can taste this in the quality of the grapes. Over the past fifteen years, Petrolo has risen to become one of the largest wineries in Tuscany and Italy, particularly famous for wines with a strong regional identity.
