This Prieto Pariente Viñedos de La Provincia is a beautiful blend of Garnacha and Tempranillo from Castilla y León in Spain. Intensely fruity with aromas of ripe raspberries, strawberries, and cherries combined with refined spices. Full and powerful on the palate yet beautifully balanced with a delicate freshness. This is the winner from the Perswijn wine competition in 2023! A top pairing with roasted lamb or aged cheeses.
In the glass, the wine is a deep, dark red. Fruit aromas of ripe raspberries, strawberries, and cherries fly towards you. A delicious spiciness with a floral edge finishes it off. On the palate, the wine has a powerful structure where the fruitiness and freshness are beautifully balanced with the oak aging. As time passes, this Spaniard develops greater complexity in its aromas. You can therefore leave this La Provincia in the cellar for a while longer, provided you can resist temptation. Serve the wine with red meat dishes or roasted leg of lamb. It is also a favorite with a cheese board featuring mature, aged cheeses!
The Garnacha and Tempranillo The grapes in this La Provincia come from selected old vineyards in Castilla y León, in the province of Valladolid. The vineyards have a very calcareous soil with sand and clay and are located in three different villages: Mucientes, Pedrosa del Rey, and Valbuena de Duero. Each vineyard is vinified separately to create the best possible blend. After the harvest, the grapes ferment spontaneously in stainless steel tanks. Part of the malolactic fermentation takes place in stainless steel, and the other part in French oak barriques. After fermentation, the wine ages for a further 11 months in French oak barrels of both 225 and 500 liters. The wine is then blended and bottled, followed by a further bottle aging of at least 9 months.
The wines of Prieto Pariente reflect the combination of sustainable viticulture, carefully selected vineyards, and, above all, respect for the terroir. Prieto Pariente is a new project from the José Pariente wine estate. Supported by the knowledge and experience of the second generation of the Prieto wine family, they produce fantastic wines here that perfectly capture the terroir.
