The Santa Cristina Cabernet Sauvignon red wine has a beautiful garnet-red color, is dense and intense. The nose is complex, rich, and persistent; there are notes of red fruit, ripe fruit, and jam, underscored by vanilla, spices, and a light—how lovely—herbaceous nuance. A pleasant sweetness, well integrated with notes of sage and green bell pepper. It has a long aromatic finish. This wine is a good accompaniment to a fine piece of meat or game.
This Santa Cristina Cabernet Sauvignon from the Zenato winery is made from 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc. These quintessentially French grapes turn out to do very well in Italy as well. This makes the Santa Cristina an original alternative to a Bordeaux. Zenato has its vineyards in Veneto, a half-hour drive from Verona. They take ample time to let this wine blossom. First, the grapes are selected by hand. After fermentation, the wine ages for approximately a year and a half in oak barrels, after which it rests for several months in a stainless steel tank before maturing in the bottle for another six months before it can be sold. As a result, the wine is already beautifully ready to drink.
