This Scaia Rosso Corvina wine is made exclusively from corvina grapes from three to ten-year-old vines on the fertile limestone and volcanic hills around Colognola ai Colli in the province of Verona. The grapes are very carefully picked, destemmed, briefly macerated, and then pressed very gently. As a result, the beautiful juice already contains the finest fruit acids and few bitters when fermentation takes place. After the second fermentation (lactic acid), the wine acquires its final silky and creamy texture.
Northeast of Verona, the four Castagnedi brothers have been processing on the 48-hectare estate since 1989. Tenuta Sant’Antonio the grapes into fantastic wines. In 1995, the first wines from Tenuta Sant’ Antonio came onto the market, and the attention of the wine press, importers, and consumers was drawn almost immediately. This was a winery to be reckoned with! The first major recognition took place in 2000 when the Gambero Rosso awarded the Cabernet Sauvignon Capitello 1997 three glasses. In addition to this Scaia Bianca, Casa del Vino has other wines from Tenuta Sant’Antonio.
The beautiful ruby, red-purple colored wine has floral aromas of red roses and violet on the nose, alongside fruit notes of red and black currants, plums, blackberries, and raspberries. On the palate, Scaia Rosso is creamy with a balanced, juicy freshness and the right amount of tannins. This makes it ideal for everyday enjoyment.
Scaia Rosso Corvina is excellent as an aperitif with dried sausage and mountain cheese, or as a pleasant accompaniment to starters, pasta, risotto, and grilled meat.
