    Sedosa. As soft as silk….

That makes sense, as Sedosa can also be translated as silk. The Sedosa Tinto is a wonderfully soft glass of wine with a bright deep red color and purple reflections. The blend of Syrah and Tempranillo has a medium body, is smooth, with pure aromas of blueberries, strawberries, black cherries, chocolate, and tobacco. The finish is long and delightfully round. The structure is delicious. It is a versatile wine that pairs well with dishes such as grilled pata negra pork chops and chorizo sausage, but is also excellent with paella. Ah, the Sedosa Tinto is also delicious as an aperitif with a plate of iberico ham.

Sedosa is a series of wines from Hammeken Cellar in Castilla la Mancha. Castilla-La Mancha is a large region located south and east of the Spanish capital, Madrid. They produce well-priced table wines here from various grape varieties. More and more top-quality wines are appearing. More than half of Spain's grapes are grown here. Traditionally, only grape varieties capable of withstanding hot, dry conditions were planted. The white grape variety Airen tops the list and is still the most planted grape in Castilla-La Mancha (and indeed all of Spain). However, it is not a particularly respected variety, so many growers have expanded their portfolios. Red grapes dominate the rest of the lineup. These include Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Garnacha, Alicante Bouschet (known here as Garnacha Tintorera), Monastrell, Syrah, and Bobal. Most of these are used for red blends suitable for barrel aging, although the production of varietal wines is increasing.

    Castilla La Mancha

Castilla-La Mancha is home to nine Denominación de Origen appellations, including Europe’s largest officially delineated wine zone, La Mancha. It is also blessed with no fewer than eight Vinos de Pago estates, including the very first, Dominio de Valdepusa. ‘Harsh’ is the best way to summarize the viticultural conditions in the Castilla-La Mancha region. The climate has a strong continental influence – demonstrated by distinct temperature variations, both from day to night and between seasons. In summer, temperatures can rise to 40°C (104°F). During the long, cold winters, they drop below freezing.
