The red wine Sessantanni Primitivo di Manduria DOP from Feudi di San Marzano is full-bodied, rich, and complex. You can smell it as soon as you put your nose to the glass. An absolute top wine from Puglia, the heel of Italy. The aroma features plums, cherries, wild berries, tobacco, cocoa, and vanilla. The finish is full-bodied with a depth that never ends. An absolute winner!
The Sessantanni Primitivo di Manduria DOP is made from very old Primitivo vines. These produce grapes of very high quality! However, the yield is very low: only 3,000 kg of grapes per hectare. For most wines, this is at least double, and cheap supermarket wines sometimes reach three times that amount. The grape juice used for the top wine ‘Sessantanni’ is rich in flavor and very concentrated. This also explains the price of this wine.
The 2015 vintage scores high marks with renowned wine critics. Luca Maroni – the Italian Harold Hamersma – gives the wine 99/100 points. And in the Gambero Rosso – Italy’s wine guide – this wine receives tre bichieri, the highest score.
