Tommasi Amarone Classico Della Valpolicella possesses deep aromas of plum, raisins, dates, and cocoa. The intoxicating scent bursts from your glass! On the palate, this Amarone is velvety soft, round, and coating. Pleasantly sweet with a full flavor of ripe black cherries. Overwhelming. According to connoisseurs in the hospitality industry, this is the very best Amarone in existence. And that says something! The Tommasi Amarone has an intense ruby red color. The wine has warm, ripe aromas on the nose, intense and refined. A complex taste, smooth, full of power with lots of cherries, nuts, and plums. The Amarone is excellent paired with red meat, rib-eye with arugula, game, and aged cheesesWhat follows is an endlessly long finish. You can also pour the Amarone after dinner as a delicious after-dinner wine. Enjoy to the last drop. Serve the wine between 18 and 20 ºC.
Founded in 1902, the Tommasi family business is located in Pedemonte, a small village in the heart of the ‘Valpolicella Classico’ region, in the northwestern part of Verona-Veneto. The family owns exceptionally beautifully situated vineyards for the production of high-quality wines in the D.O.C. regions surrounding Verona. The area is particularly praised for its incomparable red wines: Amarone Classico della Valpolicella (such as this one), Ripasso, Valpolicella, and Recioto della Valpolicella.
This Tommasi Amarone Classico Della Valpolicella is made according to the traditional ‘Appassimento' method. Only the best and ripest bunches come into the Amarone. After harvest, the grapes are hung on small racks in open buildings, where they dry in the cool autumn and winter breeze until February. They lose about 50% of their weight and the concentration of natural sugars increases. After fermentation, the wine matures for at least 3 years in Slovenian oak barrels of 35 hl and then in the bottle for another year.
