    Tramin Chardonnay

Tramin Winery has succeeded in making something truly special out of the popular and beloved Chardonnay grape. This Chardonnay tingles fresh and cheerful on your tongue. It frolics, plays, and challenges you. This Chardonnay comes from calcareous clay and gravel soils, resulting in a fresh minerality. This Tramin Chardonnay is greenish-yellow in color, with delicate fruity aromas and a dry finish. It tastes fresh and lively with hints of pineapple, pear, citrus, vanilla, and butter. You can serve this wine perfectly as an aperitif, or with light dishes, for example.

    Cantina Tramin

Cantina Tramin is one of the first cooperative wineries in South Tyrol – Alto Adige to take on the challenges of sustainable agriculture. It started with 15 hectares of vineyard where the vines are cultivated according to organic and biodynamic principles. This means without the use of herbicides, but instead following the rhythm of nature. The grapes are nourished by the wisdom of Mother Earth. It is a slower and more labor-intensive process, but the results are certainly worth it!

This method of winemaking is nutritious and healthy, allowing the grapes to taste more like their typical characteristics and expressing the terroir more clearly. And they have ambitious plans. Winemaker Willi Stürz says about this: ‘Cantina Tramin’s goal is to quickly eliminate the use of herbicides across all 260 hectares of cultivation, with the direct involvement of every grower.’

    Terroir and winemaking

The Chardonnay vines are planted on a terroir of calcareous clay and gravel soils at an altitude of 250 to 500 meters. The Chardonnay grapes are gently pressed immediately after the harvest. Primary fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, followed by partial malolactic fermentation.
