Sweet …sweet… but that is putting it very simply.

Val Joanis Sweet, that is indeed the only thing stated on the label. It is sweet, of course, but that is very limited, because the wine has much more to offer! The Château Val Joanis Sweet is made from late-harvested Petit Manseng and a touch of Sauvignon Blanc. Planted on clay and limestone soils. Maceration on the skins imparts color and intensifies the flavors. The nose and palate take on almost tropical notes, and a beautiful balance of citrus keeps it fresh. So, no fortified wine here, but rather a lovely natural wine with a low alcohol content of 12.5%. Truly fruit-driven without a trace of oxidative character. Presenting notes of mango, pineapple, and citrus fruits.

The Château Val Joanis Sweet is a really tasty treat! It is simply delicious well chilled (perhaps even with a cube of ice) on a warm day, but is also fantastic with fruit dessert: Fried pineapple with rosemary, or Grilled peach with fresh Mascarpone.

The 120-hectare vineyard is spread across the hills at altitudes ranging from 280m to 450m. The vineyards also benefit from a sunny location and enjoy a particularly favorable microclimate with late ripening, resulting in wines that are fresh and balanced.

    Château Val Joanis

Château Val Joanis is located in the south of the Luberon AOC on the north bank of the Durance River that separates Provence from the Luberon, 20 km north of Aix-en-Provence. The vines surround a beautiful 17th century bastide, built on the site of a Roman villa. The estate was purchased in 1977 by Jean-Louis Chancel, who replanted the vines and established the estate we see today. His wife created the famous garden that still attracts crowds of plant lovers today. This garden is a work of art in itself and definitely worth a visit. The estate, which now covers 180 hectares, is appropriately owned by the Dutch flower magnate Leonard Roozen (what's in a name...).
