    Reviews

This product has no reviews yet.

Elegant oak-aged Saint-Emilion with seductive aromas of spices, red and dark fruit, and a full, round taste with supple tannins and a rich, harmonious finish. Delicious with roasted quail, veal with mushroom sauce, pork tenderloin with garlic and green herbs, game birds, and mature cheeses.

    Château La Tour Chantecaille

In the far northwest of Saint-Emilion, on the plateau that forms the shared border with Pomerol, lies Château Tour Chantecaille, 300 meters from Château Pétrus and between Château Evangelile and Gazin. Here, the Angle family manages their nine-hectare estate from their nineteenth-century country house. The greater part of it is planted with – how could it be otherwise – Merlot; only two hectares are reserved for Cabernet Franc. The vines stand in a one to two-meter-thick layer of sand mixed with stones, on a sub-base of stony clay soil. The ideal conditions, such as those that also apply to several top châteaux in Pomerol.

    Terroir and vinification

A maritime climate with (currently) often warm summers and mild winters. The weather can be unpredictable. The soil consists of clay and slate. The hand-harvested grapes are fermented in concrete vats. The wine then ages for 12 months in oak barrels, one-third of which are renewed each year by three different coopers.
