The Verdicchio grape is a white wine grape that has been cultivated in the Marche region since the 14th century. It is a true classic that has earned its stripes! In the past, wine was made with prolonged skin contact. The fermentation process then takes place *with* the grape skins, just as red wine is made today. The result is a wine with a distinctly full and rich flavor of the Verdicchio grape. Nowadays, ripening with skin contact is no longer used, giving the wines a fresh and elegant style. Taste the wine Quota 311 Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico and you will understand why this is such a classic!
The Quota 311 Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico is light in color, and subtle hints of almond blossom can be found on the nose. A delicious, fresh, dry wine with a pleasant finish.
Family business Piersanti produces wines in the Italian region Marche. This is an ancient wine region where even the Romans made wine. It therefore offers the perfect conditions for viticulture: vineyards on slopes and a calcareous soil. Azienda Agricola Piersanti is located in Cupramontana, the beating heart of the Verdicchio di Jesi region. They produce a number of Verdicchios of different levels. This “311” is named after the altitude of the vineyard: at 311m above sea level. This is significant; at this altitude, it is considerably cooler than on the coast, allowing the grapes to be harvested later and offering more aromatic potential.
The family business Piersanti is run by two brothers and was founded in 1955. The brothers' guiding principle is to produce wines with a distinctive price-quality ratio. The winery is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, including many stainless steel tanks, all sparkling clean, all aimed at achieving the highest possible quality wines. Naturally, this has resulted in receiving many awards from the Italian and international wine press over the years!
The Verdicchio is a fresh glass with fine acidity and a reasonably crisp mouthfeel. This makes it a great pairing with shellfish such as mussels and grilled langoustines. It is also perfectly suited to break down the fat of a sardine.
